Their hospitality is hard to match. I would like to thank the Rhode Island Duckpin Bowlers Association and their President Al Zoraian, who led a team of volunteers who kept the event running smoothly over the 4 weekends. In addition, I would like to thank everyone who took the time to participate in this annual event and hope they enjoyed the camaraderie and competition this type event generates. It is also my distinct pleasure to congratulate all of our winners in each of the categories. A complete list of where everyone finished can be found here on our webpage. Spotlight on Connecticut

Over the years there have been many Connecticut bowlers who have excelled on the lanes. One that comes to mind is Mariellen Vogt. In 1979, Mariellen set the World Record for the Most Number of Games Rolled by an Individual in a Singles Season, which is 1344. Another well known Connecticut bowler by the name of Amy Bisson Sykes holds the Ladies High Season Average of 155.080. Coincidently she established that record at Highland Bowl, the host of the 2013 National Tournament, during the 2005-2006 bowling season. Amy has also been named the #1 ranked bowler 7 times in her career. There have only been 28 ladies since 1928 to be so named. This past season another Connecticut bowler, Jason Smith from Waterbury, CT has been name the #1 ranked male for a second time. Jason is among the 37 men who have been so named since 1928.

This year the 83rd Annual National Tournament will be held in Cheshire, CT at Highland Bowl. Todd Turcotte, the proprietor of Highland Bowl, has indicated he and his staff are ready to go. This year is the 19th time the event has been held in Connecticut. If you have never participated in the National Tournament, this is your opportunity to come out and compete against your fellow bowlers and support the game of duckpins.
